01 Arusha to Miriakamba Hut

Start your day with an early morning breakfast in Arusha (1400m) before being picked up from your hotel. You’ll then be transported to the Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. As the porters organize and pack the necessary equipment, you and your guide will complete the registration process with the Tanzania National Park. The ascent begins within the beautiful Arusha National Park. The first day’s hike resembles a walking safari, offering exciting opportunities to spot giraffes, zebras, antelopes, buffaloes, and even elephants along the trail. As a precaution, an armed ranger will accompany the group, ensuring safety during encounters with wildlife.

02 Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut (Full board)

Duration: 3-5 hours of hiking

Following breakfast, you’ll begin your ascent along the steep trail that traverses the ridge of the saddle. Keep an eye out for the diverse wildlife that may cross your path during the hike. The trail offers splendid views of the magnificent Mt. Meru Crater and the Ash Tray. Upon reaching the camp, you’ll have the opportunity to further acclimate by embarking on a hike to Little Mt. Meru (3820 m) alongside your guide. An early dinner will be served, allowing you ample time to rest before your midnight summit endeavor. It is recommended to be in bed by 19:00 for a good night’s sleep.

03 Summit Day Saddle Hut (3500m) – Meru Summit (4566m) – Miriakamba Hut (2500m) - Momella Gate and Back to Arusha

Duration: 12-14 hours of hiking

The trail begins with a steep incline from Rhino Point (3800m) to Cobra Point (4350m). During the final hour of the hike, you’ll navigate a rocky ridge situated between the crater and inner cliffs of Meru. Witness the breathtaking sunrise as you reach the summit of Meru (4565m), offering magnificent vistas of the Meru Ash Tray and the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. Take your time to soak in the panoramic views before descending to Saddle Hut for a brief rest. After a short break and enjoying brunch at Saddle Hut, you’ll continue the descent towards the Momella gate. Your transfer vehicle will be waiting for you at the gate, ready to transport you back to your hotel in Arusha.
